Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to be sure those custom previews are as good as I can do them. Sadly, there are still some inconveniences, such as occasional out-of-memory exception with large textures, but nothing restart wouldn’t fix (and since CM now remembers which preview is shot with which params, you can easily select all previews shot with different style at Batch Previews Update tool).
- Track states:
- Now, instead of built-in list, presets are taken from AC file;
- Also, you can modify some of those settings and re-save them as your own custom presets;
- Custom Showroom:
- Save settings, make presets, share them;
- All visual options are accessible via UI;
- Live showrooms switching;
But since most of them contains 200–300 MB texture, sometimes loading breaks — sorry about it, still looking for a fix.
- Ambient from showroom (aka light probe, but only one, not sure if more is needed for now);
- Ambient occlusion: SSAO, alternative implementation;
SSAO looks quite shitty, but alternative version is pretty nice, imo. I couldn’t add HBAO or something like that because, suddenly, I got a serious problem with view-space. I’ll try again later.
- Proper tone mapping for HDR (with several different functions);
- Optional color grading (LUT);
- Smooth PCSS/SSLR;
- Cubemap reflections & cascade shadows (for showrooms);
- All shaders adjusted to be more similar to Kunos shaders, especially reflections and blur;
- Customizable reflectiveness;
- Skin editing: txMaps texture is detected automatically now;
- A lot of performance improvements;
- Tools behavior adjusted;
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Tab to toggle FPS limiter;
- Export settings and camera angle as CM Previews preset;
- CM Previews:
- Access to all options from Custom Showroom and additional camera options;
- Presets, sharing and all that;
While we’re in this area — here are some of presets I made: GT5-like, Side, Bright.
- EXIF information (including settings footprint allowing to auto-select obsolete previews in Batch Previews Update tool);
- Kunos preset!
It’s not very accurate, but, in my opinion, with SSLR and improved update speed, it’s worth to migrate. But, of course, you can still update previews using acShowroom.exe (actually, it’s a default mode, at least for now).
- Best lap times:
- Customizable sources;
- Read from
personalbest.ini instead of that database — much faster and more reliable (but, if needed, you can change it back);
- Export to some of the sources;
- New table view with any sorting you want (but it takes more time to load);
- Sidekick/Race Essentials reading fixed (some rare crash could happen from time to time);
- Geo-tags editor uses any of Chromium engines if installed;
- Release notes are taken from acstuff website (with a detailed changelog);
- Names of some multi-layouts tracks are fixed;
- Tracks’ length parsing is improved;
- Track map generator fixed;
- Torque curves calculation fixed (controllers were used in a wrong order, so it only affected a few cars);
- Race grid: random AI fixed;
There was a bit of an issue with rounding, so only one with 100% level was generated.
- Custom themes are enabled by default (only in Full version for now);
Some of themes as an example: download.
- Various UI adjustments.

Some presets I’ve made:
As far as I can see, most of panorama-based previews are made with quite different settings, and Custom Showroom doesn’t have auto-exposure feature which could at least a bit fix it (I think it could be more harmful than useful here, obscuring actual material and textures properties). So, to make car fit, I recommend to move around some of those sliders, such as ambient or light brightness or tone mapping params, first.
